At Mom Springs, we believe your placenta deserves the same care and respect as your newborn. That’s why we embrace a low-tox lifestyle in every step of our process. We use only organic ingredients, filtered water for cleaning and steaming, and ensure that every tool touching your placenta is non toxic, non lead, and made of safe metals or glass. While strict sanitization is always a priority, we minimize plastic use wherever possible.

REASONS WHY:
from improved mood and energy to increased milk supply and faster healing
Yes! It is safe when handled by a trained professional who follows strict safety protocols, including proper storage, hospital grade sanitation, and high heat processing to eliminate bacteria. The placenta does not store toxins but retains beneficial nutrients and hormones, making it a nutrient rich postpartum supplement.
I specialize in the steamed method, which involves gently heating the placenta to preserve its nutrients and ensure safety.
I clean, steam, dehydrate, and grind your placenta into a fine powder before encapsulating it.
The most common benefits reported include mood stabilization, hormone regulation, iron level restoration, increased energy, and better milk production.
Moms report benefits like improved mood, reduced postpartum bleeding, enhanced milk supply, and a smoother recovery.
Placenta encapsulation transforms your placenta into easy to take capsules, offering potential postpartum benefits like hormone balance and energy boosts.
Yes! GBS doesn’t affect encapsulation safety when handled and processed promptly and properly with high heat to kill bacteria.
Once I receive your placenta, you’ll have your capsules ready within 48–72 hours.
Most placentas yield 100–200 capsules, depending on their size.
Only one placenta is processed at a time in our lab. Even so, it is labeled from the moment I pick up the cooler until drop off of goodies.
The placenta filters waste during pregnancy but doesn’t store toxins. Think of it as a coffee filter, what’s left is pure, nutrient-rich goodness.
Place it in a sterile cooler (I provide one!) on ice within two hours of birth. Hospital staff can assist with proper storage.
Certain circumstances may prevent us from processing your placenta, such as: If the placenta is sent to pathology, if there is a uterine infection, or if the placenta is improperly stored. Placentas are unsuitable for encapsulation if the birthing individual has tested positive for HIV, Hepatitis B, or Hepatitis C, due to safety concerns.
Absolutely! The encapsulation process is the same regardless of delivery method.
Totally safe to encapsulate!
Meconium is sterile and typically not a risk. I thoroughly clean your placenta and process it at high heat to ensure it’s safe to encapsulate.
The sooner, the better, but there’s no strict cutoff! Booking early guarantees your spot, but if you're late in pregnancy (or even in labor), reach out and I’ll do my best to fit you in if I have availability. So don’t stress if you’re deciding last minute, just send me a message!
Doctors often dismiss placentophagy because there’s limited modern research proving its benefits in a clinical setting. While pharmacies historically kept placenta powder on hand to treat ailments like fatigue and hormonal imbalances, modern medicine prioritizes treatments backed by large, controlled studies. Unfortunately, placentophagy hasn’t been widely studied in this way, leaving many medical professionals skeptical.
Additionally, with the rise of synthetic hormones and iron supplements, natural remedies like placenta use fell out of favor. Concerns about safety, contamination, and cultural stigma also contribute to doctors being hesitant to recommend it.
However, history and personal experiences (like yours!) show there’s so much more to the story. Placentophagy is deeply rooted in centuries of tradition and supported by countless moms who swear by its benefits. By continuing to educate and advocate, we’re helping bridge the gap between this ancient practice and modern postpartum care, offering moms more choices in their recovery journey.
It is strongly suggested that you tell your doctor ahead of time that you plan to take your placenta home and write it in your birth plan. Also be sure to tell the nurse when you go in for delivery that you plan to take it home. The hospital will ask you to sign a liability release form. Make sure to bring the provided cooler with you and the hospital will provide the ice.
